How accurate are global B2B email databases for lead generation?
There is no single accuracy rate that describes all global B2B email databases. Accuracy depends on the supplier, target market, field being measured, checking method and time between checking and use. A database-wide percentage may tell you little about your intended segment.
DB TO DATA recommends asking a more specific question: how many records in this selection meet the company, role and contact requirements for this campaign?
Separate the meanings of accuracy
An email address can have correct syntax while belonging to the wrong person. It can use a domain that receives mail while the individual mailbox is uncertain. A technically valid mailbox can belong to someone who has changed responsibilities.
Measure email usability, current employment, role fit and company fit independently. Permission to send and expected response are separate considerations again. None should be assumed from a single “verified” status.
Inspect the denominator
Ask whether an advertised percentage covers all records, checked records, a sample or only records assigned a particular status. Find out whether uncertain addresses were excluded from the calculation. Ask what date and target geography the claim describes.
An illustrative example explains the issue. If 900 addresses pass a supplier’s checks out of 1,000 delivered, the technical pass rate is 90%. If only 600 also match your required role and company conditions, your campaign-ready proportion is lower. These numbers are hypothetical and are not a statement about DB TO DATA inventory.
Evaluate global data by segment
Split your review by country, company size and required role. Look at missing fields and conflicting employment information. Compare results from the same checking process and the same period.
Be careful with country labels. A corporate headquarters location may differ from the employee’s working location or the office relevant to your offer. A global campaign needs those distinctions resolved before routing contacts to regional teams.
Verify close to use
Keep checking dates and status categories in the export. Review uncertain records separately and remove known opt-outs before a campaign. When a seller discovers a wrong employer or invalid address, record the reason so later refreshes can be assessed.
Delivery is still not the same as inbox placement or commercial interest. Authentication, sending practice, message relevance and recipient systems can affect the outcome. Do not use database accuracy as a promise of campaign revenue.
Confirm the product category
Our email data page describes consumer email selections. Buyers seeking B2B decision-maker emails should ask DB TO DATA to confirm the precise product scope and available fields before ordering. For business calling requirements, see the B2B phone library.
Apollo’s People API Search documentation is an example of why buyers should distinguish people search from contact retrieval and enrichment. Check the actual workflow and status definitions for whichever supplier you evaluate.
Treat accuracy as a documented measurement for a defined selection. That gives your lead generation team a useful basis for planning and correction.
